 The "T"

The Thornwood Fire Department houses a 1917 Ford Model T, which in old times, served as a primary fire engine for the department. Today it is one of the oldest operating pieces of firefighting equipment in the State of New York. It was shipped unassembled via the railroad. Members of the Fire Company assembled it in no time. The "T" has won many awards for best appearing Motorized Antique Apparatus and Has won numerous trophies at Antique Competition in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The Model T also has a hand pump trailer, a 1886 Gould Hand Pump, known as "The Strokers". This is the Thornwood Fire Company's Original piece of Hand drawn equipment. This also has won several trophies as best appearing Hand Drawn Pump and also won Many trophies in Antique Competitions. The "T" is the centerpiece of our apparatus decals, banners, and patches proudly worn by the firefighters today.
